Raffle Now Closed!
Ticket sales are closed for the cheapest Cessna 182 money can buy! This pristine A model was raffled to benefit the employees of Kalitta Air, with all of the proceeds going to the Employee Assistance Program. At 64 years old, this airplane is as close to showroom as it could possibly be! With 300 hours on the engine and prop, and around 2300 hours on the frame, this is one of the hidden gems in North America!
In the finest of Kalitta Air traditions, the airplane is named after a prolific human being who changed the lives of everyone he met - Cheynne Todd. I first met Cheynne in George, South Africa, while learning to fly. Over the years I spent there, we became close friends, and I would see him often at family gatherings and occasionally at the pub! Cheynne spent way too much time in the hospital for the bright lad that he was, and one such day, called me to skip work and play cards with him. While we played, I had expressed to him that I was miserable with my career choice, and I thought myself a failure since I was unable to move on from the flying school. Cheynne perked me up, told me I’m being ridiculous, and said that one day, I would be flying big metal for money and have my own little plane for fun - I didn’t know it, but boy, was he right! Cheynne’s earth light was extinguished far too early in 2006, and is remembered fondly by his friends and family. What is so striking is, that he continues to affect lives still to this day. His name is emblazoned just behind the L1 door, just like Scott Kalitta, Jimbo Reese and Beti Ward. I hope his name and memory will stay on this airplane with it’s new owner! -Stephen Stark
